Slovakia is a scenic country full of fertile plains and great mountains, located right in the heart of Europe. Thanks to its geographical location and modest size Slovakia always was, and still is tje crossroad of cultural streams, that have been crossing through the European continent. The impacts of these cultures are also reflected in the proper nature of Slovak culture, which to this day hasn‘t lost nothing from its originality. Slovak folklore - dance, music, songs and handmade national folk costumes are very varied and different in each region of Slovakia, leaving favorable poetics and strong temperament in themselves.

Folklore Ensemble NAFURT was created by joining former dancers of two ensembles from Bratislava - the folk ensemble Dopravár and the folk ensemble Ružinov in 2017. Both original ensembles have existed for over 40 years. We are “nafurt” (meaning “forever“) connected with folklore and that‘s why we gave our ensemble the name NAFURT. After performing in their youth ensembles, dancers returned to dancing already in 2008, but as the ensemle NAFURT we have only been working for two years – but with even more enthusiasm and spontaneous, unique expression. We are a sincere representative of our folk art and we want to offer all the treasures of the rich treasury of traditional Slovak folk culture, to enrich the spirit, mind and body. We speak the most universal language - our own original national culture that doesn‘t need any interpreter.

In our repertoire we still have traditional dances, dance blocks and singing and musical motifs from regions of Podpoľanie, Horehronie, Myjava and Zemplin. Our ensemble consists of 30 dancers and folk musicians. Dance choreographies symbolize a return to the original roots of folk art, with dynamics and poetics and minimal stylization. We perform our dances in authentic costumes corresponding to the region. For our dances we use live music on traditional folk music instruments. We prepare the whole perfomrance program under the guidance of professional artistic executives and dance teachers.
